En Turquía, una intensa nevada causó el cierre del aeropuerto de Estambul, el más concurrido de Europa. Cientos de vuelos fueron cancelados, dejando en tierra a miles de pasajeros. Debido a la mala visibilidad también se suspendió la navegación por el estrecho del Bósforo y se paralizó el servicio de trenes de la ciudad.
